I got wiikey installed from someone.same day I downloaded Sonic Game for wii and placed it on DVD+R, I played the game that night no problem.wiikey was working fine.
Next day I tried the same game and wii kept on giving me error "error loading disc, please restart".but after like 15 or 20 tries it finally worked again.
now whenever i want to play this game, it does not play right away I have to keep trying trying and trying. I also downloaded some more new games and they dont work at all.
am I doing something wrong with settings? or am i burning them wrong ? or my wiikey is screwed up?

please advise.

I installed last night and found there are 3 major things to check.

1.Your Media
2.Your Media
3.Your Media

Seriously I have had modded systems before but the Wii is by far the pickiest of them all. I went with Verbaitm DVD-R burned at 4x and have had great success, but this was after trying TDK + and - and some Memorex discs. Save yourself the hassle and try Verbaitm, Ritek or Taiyo Yuden...All - as the Wii seems to be more compatable with - as opposed to +.

Hope that helps!

I got professional to do it for me.
i am using memroex DVD + R and burning them using Liteon DVD writer.

funny thing is, it works Randomly.

I even downloaded the boot wiikey disc from official website, even that would not load.

Them are classic symptoms of the Wii having trouble reading the media. As suggested above try different media.

You could also try slowing the burn down to the lowest speed it can go. 2x if the drive and media support it.

Also try using a different burning program. I used Nero at first and had problems with some working and some not working. So I switched to IMGBurn and they all work with no problem now.

I will chime in with support of what others have said.
Media is a great starting point.
Taiyo have never let me down with music cds and they continue to be extremely reliable as backups.

Could be a shifty connection, But I would seriously try - media and buy the highest quality you can afford. I thought my chip wasn't working right because the 4 different kind of discs all acted different off of the same ISO. Then I got Verbaitm DVD-R and burned at 4x now I have had 0 problems. This is where I would start and if you try a bunch of discs and still get weird results, Then I would start thinking that the chip is the problem. But if it reads at all it is probably the media causing problems. Also when you run the setup disc V1.2 you need to set the region off and set the drive speed to 6x.

I have burned 13 backups so far with Sony DVD+R's with no problems at all. I use a Plextor 716 for burning.

Windows 7 Ultimate - Intel Quad Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe V2 - Cosair XMS 6GB
256GB Samsung 830 SSD - Cooler Master HAF 932 Case

well I guess then I shuld try verb DVD-R, and how do I turn the region of.my boot up DVD that I burned for wiikey would not work as well.
Sonic and Secrets rings works randomly.
so it is possible then, that sometimes game works and sometimes it does not, because of media.
I am using Nero, i should also try Imgburn.
Thanks

I am also using Lite-on dvd writer and i use verbatim DVD-R 16x burned at 8x with ImgBurn and it hasnt failed me yet. most DRE are due to bad media quality. and as you said you use memorex, which is not a very good quality disc compared to verbatim or tayo yuden. also use dvd-r because it has been reported to be the more compatible one compared to DVD+R.

khansoul,

In the future we don't want or need to know where you got the game.

The method by which you acquired the game is not acceptable on this forum. The Wiikey is used to give you the ability to play back-ups of games you already own and to allow homebrew on the Wii.

The forum abides by those rules to avoid any problems.

Next time, clarify what you mean by saying. "I downloaded a backup copy of my Sonic game and burned it to a DVD+R." I am assuming you downloaded the backup due to your lack of an LG drive to back it up yourself.

khansoul,

I gave you a simple friendly warning. Next time you flip me an attitude you'll be shown the door.
