From what I know yes, whenever I take a step into the "dark-side" I turn it on, and find that find that many people want my IP. Yes, if I was you, I would turn it on.
acually peerguardian can block any type of traffic, it doesnt only work with p2p programs it works with any connectino to the internet. if it detects a certain ip is trying to be contacted taht is blacklisted in its cache, it will not allow that connectino no matter what program you are using unless you allow it.
it can also work for http if you click the block http optino so if you try to access an ip via http protocol that is in the blacklist it will block that too.
Just thought i might add that Peerguardian does not work on Vista. It runs well but it does not seem to block any ip's. The peerguardian website said that they are in the process of making the modifications for vista.
