First off...I completely botched up the soldering job. I managed to take off 2 solder mount points on the DVD drive (those things come off TOO easily). So now my question is...if I somehow manage to "touch" a wire to the where the solder mount point used to be...will that maintain a connection? I saw the link to the alternate solder point...and no way would I ever be able to do that.

Also...is there a way to tell if you've installed the chip correctly...other than having to try a backup? Sometimes you never know if the issue is with media/burner or the mod itself...
