One Piece Unlimited Adventure Tips needed.

OK, so two days ago I go my copy of One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. Unfortnatally, 2 hours of playing I only have Luffy, Nami, Chopper and Ussop and can't go ay further. Looking at screenshots and menus (I can't read japaneese BTW), I should be able to get a fishing rod and bug net.

Questions:
- Can't get to the chest on the lilly pad. How is this done?

A couple more hours stumbling around the island, I discovered that attacking trees is a VERY VERY good idea FYI. I'm no longer stuck. If anyone else wishes to talk about this great import, here's the thread :-)
