I have a dvd burner for my machine. It`s a fairly decent setup, 1gb ram, 2ghz cpu.
We have one of the old type playstation two machines. My better half is bugging me about running some **cough** backup games on it.
I assume I can burn these to DVD+R with my dvd burner? I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition which works great for dvd movie burning. Would this be ok for ps2 games.
Also, the ps2 has not been modified in anyway. I`m pretty good with a soldering iron, can anyone recommend what chip/plugin I should use for backups? After searching google, there seems to be no end of options. I just don`t know where to start.
oh boy your going to be happy when I tell you this all you need in ordeer to play **cough** backup games and nintendo snes games and play thousands of songs and movies plus play games from a intternal hardrive and have swapmagic and hdloader few god thats alot of stuff if a few things
1 a internal hardrive <not a western digital because they dont fit> around 200 gb depends on how much games movie and music you want and ethernet adapter they run about 30$ look online for them EBAY and a memory card
ok once you get all those and put them to gether you download hdloader
0.8b iso from sksapps.com then put it on your internal hardrive that has to be hooked up to your computer and throw it on ther (((((oh I forgot that you have to format the internal hardrive with hd advanced 3.0 before you put it in the computer))))))))) okay then download winhip so you can transfer the iso to your ps2 you know what tell me if you read this because I dont want to sit here and type for nothing so pm me or reply here or both okay thanks prutsos aka the mad scientist

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend using DVD+R's. I would recommend using DVD-R's if you were taking the Swapmagic path. For some reason I've only had problems with the PS2 reading DVD+R's.
DVD-Rs should generally be for the older models i.e. the v.3s~v7s. As for using DVD+Rs, I only suggest using them if you cannot use DVD-Rs because it is known the recent slim models have had trouble reading DVD-Rs even when book-typed to DVD-ROM. I have one such case while others have fared better and managed to get DVD-Rs to run on their slim models. Anyway, if you choose to use a modchip and not the Swap Magic disc set route, I recommend you look up under the PS2 - Hardware Discussion thread. There's a sticky that already completely explains and goes into details what is the more preferrable and such mod-chip if you do consider going through the mod-chip route.
