Hey everyone,
I was just sitting around thinking as I was roaming around the boards today and thought, "Why do people mod their systems?" I think that we all have our reasons. But it really makes you think. What would possess a person to take a brand new off the shelf system, tear it apart, start sticking parts in that were never intended to be put inside the console and slap the thing back together? I don't know what kind of people are out there, but I guess all I know is why I did it.

I love import gaming. I think that there is nothing better then having something that your buddy down the sterr won't see for another year AT LEAST. Maybe not even at all. Adding these games to your collection makes a statement. Your saying that there is a great game and damn it, I want it NOW.

I'm crazy about Naruto. From the first time I played Jump Super Stars and found myself asking, "Who the hell is this spikey headded freak boy and why is he such a big star?" I wanted to know all about Naruto. Import gaming turned me on to a series that I probably would have never gotten into.

Unfortunatally, Nintendo feels different about importing. There is a problem that they have with it. There are probably a whole metric f--k-ton of reasons why Nintendo region locked the games. But it really all comes down to Money. Bleach Wii may not have bee the big money maker in the US in Nintendo's eyes. Then why do I want it? Why am I not alone in this matter? WAKE UP.

The day I installed my mod chip was the worst day of my life. I spent a month trying to get this console and now, I was putting that console on the line. I just wanted to play games that were suited for ME. I don't watch the english version of Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, etc. I watch subtitled versions. They are further along in the series then the ten year olds in the USA are. I want a game that is at THAT point.

Nintendo: Unlock you console.

If Nintendo were to offer in trade, my wiikey modified Wii for a brand new factory sealed Wii that would play WITHOUT A HITCH, every NTSC-U, NTSC-J, PAL game on the market and is future proof... I'd do it.

I'm not in it for the backups. Yes, backups are great for many reasons but I would give that up for my dream machine. I think that there are people out there that feel the same. How many PAL Wii owners out there have ever bought a NTSC-J wii title before checking the compatiability list and discovereRevolution into a brick? How many NTSC-U wii owners want a taste of Naruto GNT EX? I know I sure do.

I dont know if your alone , but I could care less about imports im all about the backups, and the other posibilities , like playing videos and Emulators, I hate the whole virtual console thing, I really dont want to pay 5 bucks for a SNES cartrige I already own. I am greatful that I can unlock the full potential of the wii with my modchip, not just so I can play imports

I am sure once the modchips are able to bypass some of the imports that aren't working properly on the Wii, you'll have a change of heart.

I think a lot of people were surprised that Nintendo region locked the Wii considering the DS wasn't. I don't know why they chose to go that route with the Wii, but it's apparent that it wasn't because they were listening to their customers.

personally, I have 5 kids that destroy everything in sight. I'm not buying games for them to destroy. So just like movies, I buy the game, back it up and put away the original and give them the burned copy. They can destroy that if they want. Much cheaper!

The DS and GBA were region free. I have a feeling that one of the factors was that the display is the same. PAL and NTSC are not compatiable with older displays but nowadays we have HDTV and adapters that do conversions. Heck, use a tuner card on your PC and you can do it.

Nintendo did not listen to the gamers in this respect. It seems that there must be something deeper. It's marketing. They want to pick and choose in countries with a smaller. I feel that they are making a stupid mistake by locking it like this.

This is a great things about the mod chip. I never really thing about it because I take care of my games. I don't have kids (hope to someday) but I can imagine what they can do to the disc.

I origionally had no intention on making backups. But now that I have friends that don't have games but have the systems, I can lend them out the origionals after making a backup. They trash it, fine. I can still play it. I'd rathor that they didn't but hey, I can't really stop them. All I can do is trust them.

Nobel uses of modchips: Homebrew, backup, import.
