I made a trip to COMPUSA this weekend....they had a 100 pack of +r's that coded out to optodisc r16...so far so good....scans of 85 or better. I have bad luck with OPTO in the past, so I'm wondering what gives?? Are they getting better, or am I just lucky? They were 19.99 for the 100.
Just in case I got a 100 of the SONYs they had on sale as well...and they score about the same...

Optodisc has gotten much better. If you check on CDFreaks, you will see that some people are getting EXCELLENT results with 16x Optodisc, with Nero scores of 95 or better on a consistent basis.
The better brands under which you can find Optodisc are Samsung Pleomax and Imation. The 85s you got were on the low side, but that could be because like CMC, Optodisc may burn better when packaged under quality brand names than generic store brands.
BTW, what is the product number or SKU on the package of the CompUSA DVDs (or the number on your receipt)? The DVDs aren't advertised as being on sale, and on the web site, they have the 16x disks listed at a higher price.
I no longer have the reciipt...(the wife),but the upc is
8 41808 00939 6.
They had a sign on them(not a sale sign) as I we walked into the store to buy the SONY's.

OK, then that might have been a local special and not nationwide. The web site still says $39.99, so I'll have to check my local store to see what price they have them at.
