This doesnt work with originals obviously, so is this just possible because the backup is already decoded?
Yes, making a copy of a backup is no problem as long as you use good media in the first place like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and you burned it at a reasonable speed (no faster than 8x) then it should be NO problem making a copy of you're backup
