Hey,

I've got a problem, I just got myself a Wiikey and someone installed it for me, tested it, and claimed it to work perfectly, so today i received te Wii,
But when i wanted to play a copy (downloaded iso) my Wii gave me an error message like this:

'Error: Press the eject button, remove the disc, turn off the Wii system and read the Wii manual for more information'

I tried burning the iso with Nero7 and ImgBurn, could it be that my dvd-drive is not good enough, because the highest possible speed is 2.4x while i tried burning with Philips DVD+R 16x, and Imation DVD+R 16x

Wii systems can be picky.

You might need to go to DVD-R media.

No one can say for sure what Media will work on your unit best. Everyone has different results with all kinds of media. So buy some DVD-R media (Verbatim/Tayio Yuden) and try those. Once you find Media that works well with your Wii stick with it.

You could also get ahold of the person that installed the Wiikey and ask them what media they used that supposedly worked when they tested it.

Don't worry about how fast your burner can burn games! Slower is actually better for burning Wii games, just because, when you do a slow burn, it makes it easier for the Wii to recognize it!

if it is an old drive maybe the firmware of the writer needs updating so it is able to correctly recognise the newer discs

try looking on the manufacturers website for updates

But i have always been burning my ps2 games with this drive.

Anyways, i'll see if i can get some DVD-R today, the guy who installed my wiikey used Verbatim DVD-R.

honestly in this situation If you can get your hands on the tri-wing screw driver i would pull that wii appart and take a look to see if the chip is installed, next check all the points (Jewlers glass does the best) to make sure there are no shorts, from there I would then worry about the Media - Ive burned 4 different types of media now and have had no probs its just a matter of making sure your burning correctly but my suspicions lie more twoards the wii

If you need help taking apart the wii:
