I extracted the files from the 3.40 Exploit that just release, mainly the param.sfo, and I made another EBOOT using this param.sfo and using the data.psp from another homebrew eboot.

If I place the new eboot in the homebrew file, shouldn't it work?

I tried it it started to load and then said that the game could not be started.

What should I try next?

what 3.40 exploit? If it's not from reputable site, dont download it. And an exploit is not a downgrader, so even there is an exploit, you wouldn't be able to do anything with it

#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

the only known possibility for a exploit is through a demo so if u try making a new eboot by swapping the data.psp then it MIGHT work but dont hold me to it (probrably wont)

I highly doubt it's gonna be that easy. When the file changes, the "code" for the file with change, and psp won't recognize it as the original file.

#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

Then, to change the code, which file are you gonna have to edit, the param.sfo, or the data.psp?

And to do this you will have to have a hex editor, right?

Hey, if the EBOOT works then try a 3.40 downgrader since it's also an EBOOT.

No. Simply put, you can't change the code. As to why, it's a bit difficult to explain, if you don't have the general concept of hash functions. If you really want to know more, I suggest a good read about, Hash Function, and more specifically, Cryptograhic Hash.

Basically, it boils down to that, in a well defined cryptic hash function, it's impossible to have 2 different files with the same hash code (collision).

so if you cant edit it, what can you really do to change it, or will you have to make the files from scratch?

it's not about anyone "knows" hash. hash code is built into a file to help an aplication identify this file. An hash code is specific to that file, like a fingerprint, and any changes to that file will alter the hash code.

Basically except pray for a fast downloader or take it back to the store you bought for a refund (even though there may be limitations its worth a shot, I know the walmart here allows up TO 90 DAYS to exchange/refund.
