when I burn an avi to dvd-r and play it on mi dvd it doesnt work

hey guys. over the past few days ive been trying to burn some movies to DVD-R. It says the burn process was complete and everything but whenever I try to play it back on my dvd player the screen goes all green and turns other random colours. The audio works fine but its jus the video that messed up

any ideas?

Does it play ok on the PC.

Perhaps the burning speed you select is too fast.Try 4x on Verbatim or any media that says "Made in Japan".
