I'm using the really good Taiyo Yaden media. My burner never fails to burn a copy. I'm using imgburn. Yet half of my games won't play.
I doubt anything is wrong with my Wiikey. I got it installed a few weeks ago and about half of my games work. All originals work.
Any suggestions?

it might be your burner, try burning some of the ones that wont work using a different burner and see what happens, I would also try using Verbatim, it might just be that Taiyo Yuden doesnt work that good with your burner.
just try changing some things and see what happens

Make sure your firmware is up to date on your burner. This will improve compatibility with newer discs and Stabilize burn speed with newer media (At least in my case it did).

I'm transferring files over to my wife's computer. Hopefully that will work. If it does it means I get to go burner shopping this weekend. :)

Use Nero to burn the ISO, try different media and if that fails get yourself a Pioneer 111 or 112 Burner ($32 Newegg.com). I myself am one of those few people who don't actually like Taiyo's. I have MUCH better results with Prodisc 16x DVD-R's as they work on EVERYTHING I throw them in, from Xbox, PS2, PS3 (Movies etc.), Standalone DVD players and my NinWii. Plus anything I burn is at 16x NO MATTER WHAT with perfect results!

I think its your burner. I tried 3 dif brands of media on my laptop with no success. Some very good and others very budget with no luck. (it was a toshiba laptop with a teac burner) when i tried burning on my desktop with a sony burner worked 2nd go. Try burning at 2x or even 1x. 1x was my second go.

I tried my wife's computer (different burner) and it didn't work.
What's strange is that there are games that I could successfully burn 100 times out of 100 and there are those that will fail 100 out of 100.

Is your wiikey set to region override? my was not at first and it wouldnt read some of the games, when i changed it it worked fine. but its the same difference, papermario works in either region (im PAL and its NTSC) but cooking mama doesnt.
I have never had any trouble burning gamecube games either, only wii.

What games are not booting up?
What region are those game disc's?
What Region is your Wii?
My suggestion is this (I am surprised no one has posted this yet)...
Quote: What's strange is that there are games that I could successfully burn 100 times out of 100 and there are those that will fail 100 out of 100.
To me this sounds like this could be a region free (Override) compatibility issue.
All Wii games are not compatible with the region override setting. Below is a guide that shows what games can be used for the region override and what games can not. It could be a simple problem as playing a non-compatible out of region game disc on your Wii. (NTSC Disc on PAL Wii/PAL Disc on a NTSC Wii)
So find out what game you have and what region it is in. Then go to the link below and look that game up (Make sure you look up the game in the correct list) and see if it is compatible with playing on your region Wii.
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php/Wii_Re...patibility_List
To resolve this problem get the same region game disc that your Wii region is.
Example:
The compatibility list for NTSC(U) Games on a PAL(60Mhz) Wii -- 21 Games out of 52 are not compatible with the region Override.
The Compatibility list for PAL Games on NTSC(U) -- 15 games out of 37 are not compatible with the Region override.

I guess I could try and figure out how to check that. I guess I copy those Wiikey files to a dvd and boot it.
But again it's mostly GC games giving me a problem.

I don't have a Wiikey (I have a WiiD) but I have read allot of Wiikey owners say that the Game Cube compatibility for the Wiikey is lacking.
There is an update that is going to come soon for the Wiikey (Supposed to be on the 15th) that might resolve the issues your having with the Game Cube games.
Plus in the future be more specific with what games you are having trouble with. I dought most of the above members that are trying to help you new that these games where Game Cube games that you where having trouble with.

I fixed my problem.
I popped in my Wiikey disc and changed region override to ON.
I'm glad I kept all of my "coasters". Most of them work now.
What's odd is that I know for a fact that most of these games were "NTSC USA". The region override shouldn't have affected it.
I'm not complaining.
Thanks everyone for your help.
