I downloaded a copy of Windows Vista, but when I run setup.exe, it says ''autorun.dll cannot be loaded or is corrupt. [0x3E7].'' Help!

plz dont install vista. I did and it messed up my computer. i had to reinstall windows xp by booting from a cd and lost all my data. if you want windows xp, download a transformation pack. i suggest one from: http://www.windowsxlive.net
when you get there go, at the top of the screen it should say something about "Vista Transformation Pack 6.0".
if your gonna install vista, be ready to reinstall all programs and uninstall the ones that "aren't compatible."
again, i recommend not getting vista, especially a copy from the internet, which you must burn to a cd to work.

i dont see any reason NOT to install vista! i have had it installed (in many different forms) for probably close to a year! as far as why your autorun.dll is corrupt, maybe you should try burning it to a DVD and installing it that way. you can do an upgrade or fresh install but i highly recommend doing a fresh install. it will run MUCH better and once you do have it running, you will be very happy! not only is it just nice to look at, but i find it better in almost every other way that counts. if you are going to be installing the "Ultimate" version, then that will be even better. there are a ton of handy extras that make things much easier and more convenient. i dont know why so many people complain about Vista. of course it is going to have its bugs and quirks. most people are just so used to XP that they are unwilling to progress and take the next step. as long as your system is able to handle it (meaning atleast a gig of ram and a decent video card to run Aero), then i see no reason at all why you shouldnt give it a go. there has already been an update for nearly every component of my computer and multiple driver updates for many. things have been running smooth and without a hitch for over 6 months now :)

I did a clean install and there weren't any problems at all. But I used the CD/DVD from a paid version.

What has Windows Vista got to go with the p2p forums? Unless of course, which I beleive you have, used a torrent to download it, if that is the case, I am afraid piracy is against the rules here at AfterDawn (well it was last time I checked, I aint been here in a long time.)
