look in your game folder for punkbuster a and punkbuster b , Make sure your firewall allows them to connect to the internet. Also you could download pbsetup.exe from the punkbuster site and run it to update punkbuster + Your game now instead of when playing it.

I found that pnkbustrb runs when the game is running. I do know you have to exclude the files in your anti virus software. It will block the files. Also your router shoud allow th file past you firewall. Even in windows firewall if you are using it. I am still having this problem even after completly turning off my firewall. I do have the two files excluded in norton. Something must still be blocking theese files from using the net. Have not played the game since my last post. Have not forgotten about you.

OK I found something of intrest. found this from game guru.
In order to play Battlefield 2142 online, you must have the following ports open in your firewall: TCP 443, TCP 17475, UDP 27900, UDP/TCP 29900, TCP 80, TCP 4711, UDP 27901, UDP 1500-4999, UDP/TCP 1024-1124, UDP 29900, UDP/TCP 27900, UDP 16567, UDP 55123-55125, UDP/TCP 18000, UDP/TCP 18300
as you can see there are 15 settings. My problem now is that I only have 10 slots for ports. With that said I am unable to test this to see if it works. Now I ask. Can anyone find me a work arround to get all these ports in 10 selections?
Maybee you can try this and see if it works. Let me know.

not the way descibed. I can only have 10 entries on my router. there are more than 10 in the post I put in. I am new to opening ports. Know how to do it but not alter the mentioned settings to fit in 10 entries.

Look arround in your router to find where port settings are. Every router is different. most web pages for the router can give you the information on how to do this.
