You use WinRAR.
In this case since its .001 file, you need to add it to the WinRAR extentsion list. So you go to the extentsion menu, and add .001.
Then, you select the first file and right-click and click extract here to get the .iso.

no, right click then "extract to..."
#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

You need WinRAR first.

It doesn't really matter, extract to is if you want to extract it to the desktop or something. Extract here will just put it in the same folder.

You don't do that you extract it. You need an .iso not a .rar

Right click on the .001 file and select open with and from the drop down list select WinRAR archiver and make sure the 'always use this program to open this filetype' is checked. when you've clicked ok you'll see the contents of the archive whihc in your case will be the iso image or probably some folder simply click on it and select extract to, choose your destination and wait till it extracts. After extraction locate the iso or cso file and place it in the ISO folder on your psp.

Didi you convert the file to cso yourself? Cuz I at times psp compressor says the file conversion is complete but it isnt because of an error or something therefore it wont work. What I always do is take note of the filesize and if it is too small or I think it's too small I normally test it before I delete the original iso image. What you could try doing however is decompressing the image from cso - iso using 'psp compressor'. I dont use devhook therefore I dont really know if that's a prob with the app or anything. I use custom firmware, less hassle.

You select the .001 file and extract it.. creating an archive out of those 16 files will not change anything.

cso and dax files are compressed isos, not vice versa
