SD Gecko better than SD Media Launcher?

I bought a SD Media Launcher but I'm very dissapointed to see that only worked about half of the .dol files, homebrew software and games,...

After reading a comparission, I'm thinking in buying one of those SD Gecko from ebay. Can someone confirm it is more compatible? I spend the SD Max Media Launcher money and nobody told me it was about 50% compatible, so DON'T WANT TO WASTE MORE MONEY! So let me know, is SD Gecko 100% homebrew files compatible?
And last question: Where can I find a good tutorial about how to use it?

Please need an answer, want to start playing homebrew stuff asap!

And which is the cheapest modchip can I find to use SD Gecko with an Action Replay backup? Where can I buy it?
