Experts, i need some help ... ANYTHING that you think of can type here... nothing is useless to me since i am a super noob. i am using a NTSC wii... i mod my wii with wiikey and it was working prefectly... however, one day.. my girlfriend didn't know that i mod the wii so she rented the paper mario from rogers for fun... it was fine when she was playing it... but after she is done... the wii don't read the back up games anymore... i heard that the paper mario brick the PAL wii.. but i never heard that it has problem with NTSC... but it is HAPPENING TO ME... please ... so anyone know how to fix it back? THANKS YOU GUYS. i already did something that i saw in this website for example, format the wii and delete all the channels, update the wii (my wii is already in the most updated version). Anyone has ANY OTHER ideas? THANKS AGAIN

First off, if you have NTSC-U console and played NTSC-U SPM, you should not have been bricked. You get bricked on a PAL system making it so it won't load ANYTHING.

I haven't heard of this problem before. Backups still work fine for me after doing the same.

Try the setup disc as stated above.

Wait for the new wiikey firmware release.

Anyone else have this problem?

When i put the setup disc inside, it said unable to read disc, same as the backup discs.

i heard that there are no problem with NTSC and the english version of paper mario, but it happened to ME !!!!!!!!!!!!

one more noob questions, for the set up disc, it must be DVD- discs right? the set up disc i had in the first place was done by my other friend and now i don't have the disc so i try to make it myself...

yep DVD. The program from the wiikey.cn website creates a 4.7gb iso. I have heard of other people having this problem. I think that paper mario is not the issue it just turns out thats the game you used. I dont know of a fix though.

I updated my NTSC Wii (with a Wiikey already installed) with the Paper Mario NTSC game update WITHOUT being connected to the internet and having updated that way. The update failed, my WII rebooted and not it will not play backups, only original discs. I then updated the Wii through the Internet which worked, but backups will still not play...
Should I replace the chip with another Wiikey or Cyclowiz, or am I out of luck because the 512 flash ram has been altered?
Prior to this I had no problems playing any of my backups (burnt on Ritek DVD-R at 4x. I did already try unplugging the Wii and removing the battery backup, but the problem remains....

thanks for you help....

I fixed the problem of my NTSC Wii only playing originals after the Paper Mario update by reinitializing the Wii - by reformatting the Wii memory AND erasing the internet channel and any other channels.
The Wiikey now works great. After reconnecting to the internet and updating to the latest firmware, I put in Paper Mario and let it update, it now works along with other Wii backups.

hope this helps

try rechecking your connections. maybe one of the wires broke or something maybe due to the weak resistance of the wire you used and it broke. since the wiikey not reading the setup disc would be really odd.

btw i suggest burning your setup disc to verbatim DVD-R using imgburn at 4x. and see if it would work. if not, then its most probably the connections to the chip.

So what's the deal with "brick" games?

I have a Wiikey. I'd imagine that these bad ISOs will come out in other forms. Is there anything we can do to avoid this?

this problem is, up until now, unique for arwood since no one reported a similar problem before.. so as long as you have a NTSC wii and just update it to latest firmware just to be safe, your good to go.

well thats what happens when you want free games and mod your wii, now nintendo will refuse to repair it under warrenty and they might not even fix at all because of the mod, if u pay them or not.

This happened to me as well. Although with a PAL Wii, i had v2.2E loaded before putting in SPM, afterwards wiikey will not load backups or config disc, originals still work. I have read a few other accounts of this happening as well, with both NTSC and PAL Wiis, SPM appears to occasionly break the Wiikey. The general advice that is being given out 'update firmware and you cant go wrong' appears to be wrong in regard to SPM, although for most people it does work fine there is a growing number who have had their wiikeys bricked due to this game.

Guys... a lesson learned here is once you mod your wii, never go back to orignal disc game. It's the rule of Pirate(ing) haha j/k.

Seriously, are u sure your wired hasn't been crossed. Orignal disc with the same region shouldn't cause any problem to the wiikey. Or, maybe, just maybe, is your wiikey a clone?

*bump*

Curious to know how this all turns out as I have the same problem (except I haven't even been able to setup disc, but the chip seems to have been soldered properly)...

This same problem happen to me, every time I go to Wii Settings an error messege saying:

YOU TRIED TO ACCESS THE ADRESS MARC: FIX/US/ENG/INDEX01.HTML, WHICH IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE WEB ADDRESS (URL) IS CORRECTLY SPELLED AND PUNCTUATED, THEN TRY RELOADING THE PAGE. MAKE SURE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IS ACTIVE AND CHECK WHETHER OTHER APPLICATIONS THAT RELY ON THE SAME CONNECTION ARE WORKING

comes up and I have no clue what to do. In order to reformat my wii i need to go to Wii settings which i cannot do anymore. Please tell me what my options are. I have an NTSC Wii and i put a Super Paper Mario US disk in. Also I am not connected to the Internet and I can still play my backed up Wii games.
