Hi.

I don't think it's a serious problem, but every time I am dumping one of my games with RawDump 2.0, the audio on my computer comes out distorted and crackling. It happens with both, GC and Wii discs. Is it normal? If not, how can I fix it? Will it affect my dump in some way? (I still don't have the modchip, so I haven't tested them) Thanks.

Simple, it sounds like your computer is working too hard. Rawdump could be using up your entire system processing capability, or you could be out of memory. My suggestion in that case, do not try to do anything else while dumping, as it could cause glitches in the dump, or errors, or the program to crash.

Yeah, but my computer is working nicely... it takes up a max. of 7% of Processor (using Intel Pentium 4 HT @ 3.00GHz) and has 2GB of RAM. So... this is not normal then? I'll just wait 'till my modchip arrives and see if the backups work.

Thanks.

OK, I know it has been a long time since this thread, but I found out what the problem is and just want to let you guys know.

I ran my normal diagnostics on the drive first, and I learned that the problem was with the LG drive, not Rawdump, because every time the drive transfered information, all the output sound came out distorted.

So, I opened my computer and studied the connections I made to install the drive. My first drive (a Memorex DVD±RW) was conected on the end of the IDE cable and the jumper settings were set to Master. My second drive (The LG 8164b) was connected to the middle of the cable and was set to Cable Select. So, I just set the jumper setting to Slave, and when I turned on the computer, the drive was not recognized. I changed back the jumper to Cable Select and for some reason I went to the BIOS settings.

After all this time not knowing what it was, the BIOS setting for the PATA-1 drive (where the LG drive was connected) was OFF, and I just turned it to ON, and fixed all my problems. So, now you know, if you are having audio crackling problems, don't change the sound card, don't change Rawdump, don't change the drive... just try and change the BIOS settings first. It will save you a lot of time :)

After that, I ran SHA1SUM command 3 times to different dumps I made of Resident Evil 4 Disc 1, and received the same calculation, 9de89c7f6d8ffb2e27423900a39d4aec1439f4e3, which means that the drive is working perfectly with Rawdump 2.0. (If anybody else can do a SHA1SUM to Resident Evil 4 Disc 1 and post it here, I would really appreciate it)

Now I am completely ready, all I have to do now is wait for my WiiD to arrive. It has also been more than a month.
