i download a movie, and converted it to an mpeg file, but when i try to burn it with nero, i get an error message, saying that it's an unsupport file format. the file converts to mpeg fine, but i noticed that there is an additional file form in the coverting process. the additional file, is an .rsrc file

What are you trying to burn it onto - CD or DVD and what program did you use?

Seems to me that if you are merely trying to store the mpeg on the cd/dvd, it shouldn't matter what format it is. I've used Nero to store oodles of different types of file formats on cd-r/dvd+r and never had a problem. However, if you're trying to create a VCD, you might need to compress your mpeg into .DAT format first. If you are trying to create a VCD in Nero, but it sees only an mpeg source file, that could be why it's telling u that the format is incorrect. Also....did u save it as an mpeg1 or 2? Mpeg2 won't go into VCD format.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

You need to encode the file to a VCD compliant mpeg file. The file you have could have the wrong aspect ratio, fps, and resolution.

Tmpgenc is the best you can get for ANY encoder - my opinion at least. it encodes mpeg 1 and 2. wizard is easy to use and end result is amazing for a free program.

The VCD forum right here at Afterdawn might be a good place to look for answers...this is the DVD+/-R forum.
