When I try to boot up the game with some codes on from ARMAX It wont boot up the game, it only works sometimes how can this be?
And could someone tell me how to convert from CBv7+ to ARMAX ?
Since there is a bunch of codes for this game at http://www.cmgsccc.com/codes.php?do=view&id=4522
I would like if anyone is kind enugh to convert or tell me how.
These are the codes.

i converted those cb 7+ codes for that game to GSv5,
so converting to arMAX shouldnt be hard, though truthfully i dont have one.
does your ARMAX have a master (must be on) code already? if so, you dont need another one.
Try These:
max battle fought
DYW1-TFHY-HX18V
RVC3-B5P5-GFP3C
CKF8-DAFX-49YC3
HK9V-KTPF-ZY2TB
GV42-Q7VR-XK1FV
DTF2-M4Q6-CX0W1
WAQJ-N7RM-Q18W9
C94G-JP01-DHVPJ
ZXQ7-XTB2-FU2H1
0G02-BFFW-9GE2Z
D9Y1-NBPF-3F2YX
03AH-5PBC-9K2T7
Save Anywhere:
BV03-UACB-U075B
5VMN-0NFP-7Z82Z
NYFK-2X09-JEPH4
let me know if they dont work, because i have a theory about the
cb7+ codes.
GL!

But when I put it into the convert and set input as ARMAX and convert to rawr I get these two lines.
INPUT ERROR: unable to convert 16-bit command in code #1.
INPUT ERROR: unable to convert 32-bit command in code #1.
------------
And the converter can't convert v5
:(

i already converted it to armax for you.
and v5 (v5.5 broadband enabled) is something i just figured out two days ago.
ill have a tut up when i get the m-code conversion figured out.
try leaving the first line off of the codes i posted to you.
they are converted from CB7+ to ARmax.
as i dont have an armax to test them with, just put them in
and see if the game loads.
if it doesnt, leave off the first line as for some reason
the first line changes every time raw is converted to ARMAX

ok i did some diggin, and i think i mucked up the conversion from raw to armax.
i converted the "save anywhere"
code based on the GS website's code to ARMAX and got
EAX0-CWVW-Q0U33
6KYX-UY8T-GT7Q7
3DWQ-KXQ4-ED838
while the CB version comes out as
X8ZQ-Q6M7-ARCZC
5VMN-0NFP-7Z82Z
NYFK-2X09-JEPH4
so one or both of those should work.
and heres the "max battles fought"
X40K-WXPZ-NQA2W
RVC3-B5P5-GFP3C
CKF8-DAFX-49YC3
HK9V-KTPF-ZY2TB
GV42-Q7VR-XK1FV
DTF2-M4Q6-CX0W1
WAQJ-N7RM-Q18W9
C94G-JP01-DHVPJ
ZXQ7-XTB2-FU2H1
0G02-BFFW-9GE2Z
D9Y1-NBPF-3F2YX
03AH-5PBC-9K2T7
both the GS and CB version produced the same game id of 069E.
so it should work now. i know it doesnt look like much but the first line changed, but the first line is VERY VERY important it seems. again, my apologies.
i left my ps2 in the car (was at an unofficial local ps2 homebrew con)
so ill convert them to GSv5 later today and see if it works.
otherwise those both should be viable codes.
as for it saying the code is for the wrong game, that was my fault. >,<
please let me know how you make out.
note- just for posterity, to answer my own wondering about the first line of ARMAX codes changing on conversion, apparently the first line is a code-id/game-id/region-id for the armax. it changes because it uses a random number for the code-id otherwise the region and game id remain the same(in auto mode)...

I can write both in and it accepts them :)
Sadly I'm having issues booting the game, but I'm having that with codes that already is on the device so not sure.
I'll keep trying :)

not every day do we get both good and bad news at the same time!
that said, there may be something wrong with your AR, though its unlikely.
it is odd that the codes that came with it dont work. but i've seen stranger things happen.
by any chance are you trying to load cheats for a backup copy of star ocean on a modded ps2?

Nope it's all original.
I just have to try a few times with the original codes and it boots up fine, so not sure. it's as if the disk just hangs when trying to boot.

ah. did you try the save anywhere codes separately? i know they work on my GSv5.
chances are its one of the three making the disk hang. i had that trouble with the XP and fol modifiers codes from CB to gsv5

I tried them one at a time.
Could it be that they are for NTSC while I play PAL ?

[slaps self in forhead] dur. yes. most definitely.
ill look and see what i can come up with. i know there is sometimes an offset to convert NTSC codes to PAL. doesnt always work but ill take a look.
could you post some of the originals for reference?

[nods] i saw the xploder codes,
same setup as for the GS.
im running a hex comparison on the mem addresses. it'll take a few but i may be able to work something out that may/not work.
its worth a try. and if it works it'll give me something to write a neat tutorial for.
[edit]
ok im on to something. itll take a bit to figure it out 100%
but it should be possible to convert most NTSC codes to PAL format.
i'd welcome your help in testing the codes to prove/disprove the theory.
could you pm me a list of PAL titles you own? if any of ours syncs up then we can use those to develop the conversion algorithm
[/edit]
[edit2]
ok i have a partial conversion algorithm set up for converting between xploder(PAL) and gameshark(NTSC). working on the differences with the conversions from CB and armax. that should open it all up to conversion.
