A year? Longer? If so then how long can I expect? Just got 200 -R Verbs from Meritline (the white inkjet printable coded MCC 01RG20) & am thinking about stocking up with perhaps 1200 to 2400 of them at $22 per 100 discs. Good idea? Or should I just buy 200 to 400 at a time while the supply lasts then go back to the 8x TY's when I can't get the 4x Verbs any longer?

Yeah I know people love to burn stuff like TY at 8 or 16x (I've done both) however I'm running out of TY & instead of ordering more from Supermediastore I tried the 4x Verbs from Meritline. Good discs & I don't mind the burn taking twice as long as the remaining 8x discs I'm burning.

Ideas or advice?

T-Y claim 100 years for super cyanine, Verbatims with Metal Azo a similar period. Some lesser brands only claim 10 years.

As shelf life runs out, writability may be decreased - i.e., initial
error rate goes up. Readability is not otherwise affected.

A periodic check of error rate should show when any of the discs is starting to go; at that point, either use them for incidental purposes such as testing or discard them.

I personally buy blanks about every 6 months or so. (I am not running a DVD factory.) That way I am insulated from the effects of hitting a badly manufactured or stored batch.

I'm a home user too however I do burn quite a few discs (about 50 to 75) per month.....

Guess I'll buy 200 to 400 of these 4x verbs (while they last) at a time till I can't get any more. Yes 4x is slow but the price (at least for me) is right.
