utorrent seeding question

Once I have finished DL a file and start seeding, the DL counter in the bott right corner still ticks over (very slowly but not zero).

Why am I still DL if I am seeding?
Can I stop this from happening or is it just a part of seeding?

Also how long should u seed a file for?

You're not really downloading anything, utorrent will continue to turn over but so slowly it's only a few kb by the time you finish seeding. A good ratio to aim for is 1:1 so you have uploaded as much as you downloaded. Edit: spelling

Yeah, all network traffic (well, not ALL ... but a VERY high percentage!) involves a two-way handshake. As your machine receives data from the net, is has to send a *small* acknowledge packet back to the sender occasionally to let him/her know that you've received the data ok, otherwise the other end will assume the message got "lost" along the way and re-send the info again.

Thanks guys for clearing that up.

I usually leave my files seeding for a couple of days and end up with
a ratio of about 4, so I guess thats more than enough.

over that time the DL counter is at about 200mb.
