Problems installing a Netgear wired cable router RP614

I cannot install this router.Using the installation disc I have correctly entered the IP address,subnet mask,default gateway and primary/secondary DNS.

The router does not recognise the settings.

I would appreciate help (not too complicated please!)

press the reset button on the router to put everything back to default. are you on cable or dsl?
