I cant for the life of me figure out how to FTP using vista. I;ve tried FlashFXP and the easy way of using Internet Explorer, neither can connect to the xbox .. can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
wish i could, but i do not, and will not, have Vista due to all the problems it has. Many people have had problems with FTP and Vista so hopefully someone can help.
Nope did not work, I have a feeling it's something to do with the LAN settings not recognizing the cross over cable when plugged in, even though bloody vista says 'connected to local and Internet' It still just times out .... thinking I should go back to XP
I just upgraded to Vista (Ugh), and I am unable to see my shared drives from the xbox. I am able to ping the box as well as FTP into it, but I would much rather have it the way it was.
I had a shared drive, and "mapped" the xbox to it for my viewing pleasure. When I try to create a new source, I am able to see the other XP PC in the house and connect to it. I am able to "see" the vista box, but when I try to connect it freezes up.
This is a fresh Vista install, and I have attempted to access it with and without the Windows firewall on.
also having trouble getting vista to connect to xbox using flashFXP.
crossover cable tween pc and xbox, but vista just says limited connectivity, and when opening network and sharing center it just is stuck trying to identify gateway.
is this cos vista only thinks the "gateway" is to connect to the internet.??
tried creating a new network, bt the only options seem to be to connect to the internet via different ways. not just make a network.

Assuming you have Vista OS and are connected directly to your xbox from your PC/Laptop with an ethernet cable:
Go to Network & Sharing Centre,
Click 'Manage Network Connections'
Right-Click 'Local Area Connection'
Click 'Properties'
Click 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)'
Click 'Properties'
Click 'Use the following IP address'
Enter IP Address: 192.168.0.1 and Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Click 'Close'
Make sure your Xbox has a static IP - usually 192.168.0.2
Set FlashFXP up to recognise your xbox using the static IP address you assigned it and enter 'xbox' for both the username and pass.
