i recently bought letters from iwo jima and i wanted to make a backup. (PS im not a newb on burning movies)
I tried Dvd decryptor (But got an error 10 min into decrypting and got an error) tried dvdfab (10 min in, got in error) and i know the movie isnt too big, because it was a 2 disc movie one with the movie and the other with special features. Can anybody help/suggest what to do?

Backed this one up using AnyDVD and Shrink. I do only the movie, but
there didn't seem to be any special problems with this one.

You could try RipIt4Me or DVD Fab Decrypter.
There is no place to get AnyDVD free. I would recommend that you
purchase it-don't think you will regret it. I've been using it for
quite a while and think it is worth way more than they charge for it.
With free lifetime updates how can you go wrong.

so i tried ripit4me, and stuff. and all stop working after 50%.

After i gave up, i watched the original and half way through the movie the dvd freezes (says it cant read it), so is that the reason why it decrypt? but the weird thing is the dvd is brand new with no scratches. or does anybody else have this same problem with this movie.
thanks

I think you should go and exchange DVD for new one. It is most likely defective disk if it go bad on regular DVD player. It does not have to be scratched to be bad.
As you can see all the rippers stop at the same place too, 50% mark.
