No Audio in Media Player from AVI's but Audio and blotchy Video in Nero??

HI, I have no audio when I playback some of my AVI files in Media Player, DivX Player and Media Player Classic but the video is pefrect. When I use Nero Showtime I get Auido but the video is not very clear its blotchy or blurry. Does anyone know why this is? Have used G-spot and I'm told I have all the correct codecs installed.
