ok here is the prob. i turn my comp on then i go to play a game (wow) and after a few mins say around 10 mins it would turn off. Now i thought i fixed it because i thought it was overheating so i got a fan i very big fan and opened up the sides and put it beside the comp so cool air is being put on it. well it still does it even with the fan......i tried to system restore didnt work, virus scan no virus, defrag disk clean up everything. i dont know how to check the BIOS ppl say f somethign at restart but i dont see it.
my specs are:
amd 3200+ 2 ghz
2 x corsair xms ram (1gb)
asus mother board no idea the model
antec psu
also my ram has lights green to red and when i play a game its solid red constant if that means anything. i tired to test stuff out i can play music and have a messenger on and surf the net but once i play a game like cs or diablo 2 with music and msn it will shut off.
plz i need help with this.

I had this problem sort of before, when u turn your pc on tap DEL or F2 to enter the bios and check the hardware monitor (or something like that)to check the temp of ur procesor/mb after it's turned off might just need to clean ur heatsink out on your gcard/processor.

When you start computer press the Esc key or the DEL key for the cmos
look for any power off functions and turn them off.
1) Update your video card drivers and sound drivers, are you running XP service pack 2?
a) from start menu- run type dxdiag and look for any errors in diag.
Test-
Fails -
2) from start-run type msconfig- startup uncheck all items and reatart.
Test-
Fails -
Download memtest (check yahoo) follow directions and burn it to a cd, reboot and test memory.
Bad memory- replace/remove.
Sorry I don't know what you mean by ram light, do you mean your Hard drive light on the front? If so its normal for it to be active when you are doing a memory intensive program, it its SOLID red you may be using your swap file from the hard drive too often so get rid of some memory resident programs in your taskmenu.
Also, when playing games try to reduce your memory load by disabling virus programs and such to see if you have any result.

ok just did it and i wrote down everythign it said
cpu temp 80 degree C/176 F
mb temp 34 C/93F

your cpu is overheating. is the cpu fan spinning ok? is the cpu heatsink clean of dust?

well it says is speed is 3270 rpm other then that i have no idea if it is workign right im going to assume its working also, i cleaned my cpu/heatsink/fan with some compressed air but i dont know if it got it all. how can i keep it cool?

A improperly spining fan/a fan that is not spinning at all will dissipate less heat than a dirty fan/heatsink combo. Also when you cleaned the CPU Fan/Heatsink did you remove it? If so one probable condition is that sicne being removed the thermal paste is no longer doing its job. This is fairly easy to fix, simply remove the heatsink/fan from the CPU. And clean both the heatsink base and CPU with isopropanol alcohol, let dry and then put no more thatn a B.B. sized dab of heatsink compound on the CPU only. Reattach your heatsink being sure to set it down evenly and you should be good to go.

when i turned my computer on this morning it said like was at 47 then it went up to 67 just while watching it then i played a game and overheated and said it was at 77 deg.

sounds like there is an air gap between the heatsink & cpu or the heatsink compound has gone hard. get some new heatsink compound as you will need it for both situations.

Just follow these instructions on reaffixing your heatsink....

You will need the isopropanol alcohol, and some new heatsink compound.

ok another problem has happened my fan isnt turning on at startup.....it says fan error press f1 to continue.

Well if it was working before you took it off the motherboard I would suggest making sure that it is fully plugged in and plugged in correctly. Also make sure there is nothing obstructing the fan.

also make certain the connector pins of the fan did not get pushed out of the connector housing.
