i just backed up a DVD to my hard drive for the first time but its in around 20 different files and each file has like 20 minutes of footage. is there any way of tidying this into like one file so i can just watch the whole thing instead of having to flick through the smaller files?

You can rip the whole DVD to one video file using DVD decrypeter, DVDx. Both programs are free.
