Question :
Usually i trade out all my DVDS and make a transfer to Taiyo Yuden for myself because i know
that the lifespan of Taiyo Yuden DVDS far surpasing other media (DVD-R). It has been claimed
in fact that the lifespan of Taiyo Yuden discs are almost 100 years.

This would suggest to me that ''Taiyo Yuden'' brand media (DVD-R) surpases not only factory sealed
DVD or DVD MEDIA (discs) from other companies such as Crash Cinema for example but also
other distributers Warner Brothers or Fox, MGM included. Is not ''Taiyo Yuden'' superior grade in
terms of longevity and durability?

Would you reccomend that if someone requests a DVD from on of these companies that i
burn a copy of the Actual DVD or any other company and keep the Taiyo Yuden for myself...

I personally dont really care much if i have the Original or not. I mean it's cool but if it breaks
down. What use is it to me if it turns into trash.

Advice Please.

iS THERE some guide you can refer me to as to durability of factory sealed dvd.

Taiyo Yuden issued certificates of reliability in Europe in 2005. The claim for DVD-R was a life time in excess of 50 years. The life for CD-R was in excess of 30 years. How do you "know" that Taiyo Yuden far surpasses all other media? MAM-A claims 300 years for their CD-R and 100 years for their DVD-R. Eyring test models indicate that all these claims need to be qualified much better because test data show a spread of results within the same test batch of media.

TY CD-Rs are on the low side probably because of cyanine dye rather than the more common phthalocyanine dye. And claims of "hundreds of years" are interesting because then the disc may outlast the plastic its coated on.
