I ripped and burned several dvds. They play
on my computer, but when I went to play them on my stand alone dvd player - nothing.
I burned the movies to dvd+r discs and after
3 different dvd players, still nothing. Should I re-burn the movies to dvd+rw? I have a hp200 burner and I used hp discs. Can
anyone recommend a dvd player that will play my dvds? Thank you.
Try some of those Chinese cheap brand thingys, they normally play whatever you stick in. In U.S., Apex is probably the best-known Chinese brand and at least their older models used to play virtually anything.
I have the same burner. I use Nero 5.5.9.0 and my burner is at Firmware 1.27.
I have succesfully burned 6 movies now and they play on my Sony DVP S330, My Sanyo, and my Brother-in-laws Pioneer 3 disc carousel. I am going to take a DVD +RW and DVD+R to Best Buy and test them out on a variety of players.
I used DVD+R's that I bought from meritline.
The DVD+Rw is the HP one that comes with the Writer. The DVD+R's also play in my kids PS2, but the +RW's will not.
My first guess would be Operator Error.....Sorry
Goodfella
Well Goodfella, I have tried everything. At the end of burning the +r, I get an error message concerning 'nero aspi', and the dvd will only play on the computer. I tried burning to +rw and I am told that the disc is full. I have erased and formatted to no avail. Then I get a message saying the burner doesn't use this media when formatted with DLA. I have read the forum till I'm blue in the face. I wish I could get this right, that someone could help me. Since you have done this, would you please help me? Smart ripper won't work on my computer, I can't get a 'start button'. My computer worked before, but I did all of those 'upgrades' and I see there are several programs that won't work right, so I uninstalled many of the upgrades. I also thought that maybe one of the upgrades may have caused some of my problem. What is firmware? I'm just a grandma who is trying to make copies of Disney movies so when the grand kids are over, they don't ruin anymore good dvds or misplace them. Thank you for your time and info. I hope you can give me more insite.
Problem 1.Well I did a search for ASPI in the forums and found this link-http://www.nu2.nu/aspi
Problem 2. Go to My Computer and right click on your DVD RW icon and choose properties. Disable the DLA for now.
Problem 3. I really can't help you with this one until I know the Operating System you are using(then I still might not be able to help you)Try doing an uninstall then reinstall of Smartripper.
Problem 4. I need to know what upgrades you are talking about to help you figure out what to do next.
Problem 5. Since I am a Daddy I can tell you that the only way to save your DVD's is to always put the movies in for them..(yeah right!)
You will be backing upall the time HE,HE
Seriously, I may be able to help you out a little, but I need more info on your computer.
Did it work before the "upgrades"?
Oh Firmware is a term used to describe hardware which can be updated by software. I used a program called Gear Pro Professional 6.01 (Trial) to get my firmware version. (after you click on the file to start the program it shows you the firmware version and name of your DVD Writer)
I am running XP. I had been to that site before. I have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled dvd decrypter and smart ripper a half a dozen times. I just uninstalled many of the upgrades because I believe things worked better before. I uninstalled 'dla'. It's not only the grandkids, 'friends' come by and it's can I borrow this or that or things just disappear. Anyway, I had a few different threads going on the forum. Is there one particular upgrade I should have.
I don't know if I can help you.
I am running XP Home Edition and am using SmartRipper Ver 2.41 and Nero 5.5.9.0. I did not upgrade my smartripper from a previous version. I did upgrade Nero using their upgrade program to 5.5.9.0.
I read somewhere that you should always add an AUDIO_TS folder to the root of the DVD disc when recording .
Goodfella
I tried smart ripper 2.41 and nero. As I said, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Dvd decrypter would make my computer crash, well, I kept getting these minidump files. I'd format the darn dvd disc to be told they are full, so I erase the darn thing and it's been one thing after another.I really appreciate you trying to help me. Thank you, but I think we have a losing battle here. I got rid of most of the up grades and I think I'll get rid of the rest. Also, you said that you burned +r. The original things that I burned were on +r but at the end of the burn, I got an error message about the aspi. They play on my computer but that's it. I think I'm going to clean everything out of my computer and start fresh again. Thank you again.
