the general consensus seems to favour the wiikey, and am leaning towards buying one of those,
but a few questions, ppl seem to reccomend using a wired installation for a modchip, is this possible to do with a wiikey?
also how does a wiikey clone fare to a wiikey in terms of performance? i understand there are a few issues concerning dud wiikey clones,
but am wondering whether a clone would have all the features of an original wiikey? also would a clone be compatible with future wiikey software updates?
also has any one used the wiikit yet? is this simply a clone?
thanks!!
As to the difference between Wiikey and a clone. I have seen allot of talk about the Clones not working properly. But I have also seen some say it works great.
As to future updates of the Wiikey working on a Clone.
Wiikey said they are not going to block Clones but I wouldn't complain about it if they did. It is their right to protect their investment. If I was to buy 1 I would rather be safe then sorry and buy the real deal (Even tho I own a WiiD myself)
Just my 2 cents. (Just remember if you buy a clone you get what you pay for. The cheap way is not always the best way to go)
Yes but later they said that making it so the patch was incompatible with the clones, did not delay the update... which implies that the new update wouldnt work...
but then again, if that didnt delay the update, what is?
as larrylje stated you get what you pay for, other users on this forum have stated they got clones when ordering from divineo- personally I would order from modchipstore.com
As for installation wires are the best(I think personally)Wiid Chip requires it & with the wiikey in particular the two main large points you definatly want to saughter directly to the board ( you would know what im talking about if you see the chip) as for other 4 small points I used a wire to attach to the board and pull onto the chip as attachment that way there are no wires hanging around as they are only the length of the distance beteen the point on the board and chip.(very small :))
I have installed both the wiikey and the wiikit. I personally prefer the wiikit for the fact that the install is much cleaner and more reliable. It is 1/3 the cost and has the same result. as far as soldering the chip without wires, i think is a pain and you dont have any choice on placement. I have installed over 20 of the wiikit and have not had any problems with them. as far as the software upgrade, It is compatible with the wiikey program. same chip, different manufacture. hope this helps!
