I got my wii in march and i was on the wii internet channel and noticed there a wii modchip. I am wondering what a modchip is i dont really remmeber. Also i want to know if it is possible to stream files to the wii. LIke how people stream videos from orb. I was hoping if i can stream some roms and emulators. Few other things are is the games in the wii virtual console have the same format as they would have on a emulator/rom. like if there were gameboyadvance game son the virtual console channel would the extension be .gba or somethingg else. if it is , is it possible to download a rom/emulator on your sd card and put it on the wii.

Well to tell you the truth you probably could just chjeck the other threads but what the hey! a modchip is a little chip which you would install into your counsole i.e. your wii, and it allows you to play wii backups and depending on the chip's functionality gc backups also. There are a few popular ones out at the moment which you can see by looking at the thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/459502 . At the moment there isnt any proper way to 'stream' games, and i dont think you can put roms on SD cards, however you can get emulators for your wii off of various websites.

Well if you every used an emulator on your pc its just like that, you can get a disk with pre burnt roms on it so far i think thats the best you can get, as of where, im not quite sure but probably on a wii iso website or something but to have something like that you have to own the real stuff (piracy laws and what not).

The Wii will not run your roms from SD. There is no file browser. Wii only recognizes JPEGs and MP3s, I believe.

Since I don't own one, I don't know if it's possible to burn the roms and launch then using a mod chip.

read forum rules we cant tell you that you gotta get them yourself just search it.....make sure u own the original copy tho cuase otherwise thats stealing and tsk tsk.....i discovered some good forums with walk thrus on how to run emus on wii without voiding the warranty...that means no need for wiikey....but its still gonna cost around 40dollars.......you need a sd card....nintendo gamecube mem card sd adaptor one out there made by gecko........action reload or active reload or active replay whatever that gameshark type thing is for gamecube...and a program called sdload which you put codes into the AR to run off the sd your emu and roms heard from alot of ppl it worked but im still waiting on the parts from ebay..........edit heres some links
