Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum, I want to thank all the people who have set up this site and the great amount of information they put into it, am still letting it sink in.


The problem I have is am converting files (.mpeg4,.avi) into mpeg2 files, the average size of the files is about 200 MB?s, but when a convert them the files sizes increased to 1.3 GB?s, is this standard ?

That's normal, to a degree. The compression is far higher on AVI codecs than mpeg2. If you want to decrease the size, you have to decrease the bitrate, but at the expense of quality.
