I am trying to make a backup of my 24 Season 5 DVD as my brother wants to watch it but I don't trust him with the real ones as he scratched Season 4 to the point where they don't work anymore.

But when I make a rip of it using any program (tried RipIt4Me, AnyDVD, DVDFab) subtitles are on by default. What is the easiest way to turn them off but keep them on the DVD?

The easiest way is to just turn them off using the DVD remote but if you feel up to it, you can do it with PgcEdit. The link below shows how.

I thought subtitles were off by default.
Is this showing up as the ripped files (folder) being played by a software player on the PC.
Is this a burned DVD with the subs on by default played on a standalone?

^^^ Both, when I try to play the DVD off of the hard drive and when I burn it the subtitles are on by default.
