Do i have to have an LG dvd-rom drive to descramble Wii ISO's? If there is any other way that would rock because I don't want to have to buy a new drive when I have a perfectly good sony dvd writer already. Thanks!

I had the same problem but I realised that the wiikey modchip has a special feature to it. It can dump your games onto sd cards, without the need for ad drive!

so i would have to have a 5 gigabyte sd card for every game i have? that dosen't make any sense. maybe I wasn't explaining myself correctly. I am getting a modchip and want to backup my games that I own. In all the tutorials i've been reading to backup games, they say you have to use an LG brand dvd rom drive to use programs like rawdump2.0 to descramble the wii disc into an iso. I want to know if there is another program that can do this that I can use with my sony dvd-rom so i don't have to buy an LG-rom. Anyone know?

I didn't mean every game, but I would have to buy a 5gb sd card to transfer the iso to my computer to burn?

No it will break the backup up into small parts. And you put then together on your computer then burn em too a disc.

So which program do I need to use to descramble it if I have something other than the LG dvd-rom drive?

I believe rawdump would still work, as to unscramble, it doesnt read from the drive, it just opens the file, unscrambles, and makes a new file. I believe.

rawdump does not work, it says "error, you might have a faulty drive."

I guess so, no one seems to know any different unfortunately. Seems kind of funny that there is only one brand of dvd-rom drives that will work to copy wii discs. its silly
