WarioWare - 2nd Wii remote wont connect/work

Hi,

I have a PAL Wii running v2.2E firmware and a Wiikey chip. Whenever I run Warioware Smooth Moves (PAL version, Pi release) the second wii remote turns off and wont reconnect, it just flashes and then goes back off. I have tried resycning with the red buttons and selecting reconnect after pressing home and holding 1 and 2, but all thats happens is the remote turns on and is detected for half a second and then goes back off. I changed the batteries and tried using a different set of remotes that I know work and same problem. As soon as Warioware starts the second one turns off and will not come back on no matter what I do. I am not sure if this is because I am using a wiikey or what, I really have no idea about diagnosing this kind of issue because I'm not that familiar with the Wii. I can use two remotes perfectly fine in every other game and in the channel menu.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as this game is nowhere near as much fun with single player only! Thanks.

When we first got Warioware, we tried for a while to connect the 2nd controller with no success. We later found out that you have to play single player for a few hours to unlock 2 player mode!
Could that be it?

I believe the Wario Ware game only uses one of the remotes, even for multiplayer. Having to pass from player to player should add to the fun! Hope this helps.
