Nero 6 wont copy dvd's

the error message says that Nero failed to read the disc?
i have tried uninstall and reinstall unsuccessfully
Can someone help i am a total noob and get this error log,

Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition.
your version of Nero 6 is not the stablest version.... 6.6.0.18 is the most stablest version of Nero 6 and I would update it to that version. Here's how:
Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!
install package one:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539
then install package two:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!
also I would use better media. Stick with the MIJ rule (Made In Japan). Look for the MIJ on the label of the box of spindle (Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and some Fuji)... the only exception to this rule is Verbatim, which is top notch media but made in Taiwan/Singapore and the only non MIJs I will use.
and what are you trying to do? burning on the fly? is it a CD image or is it a DVD? and is it a store bought DVD that you are trying to copy by burning on the fly.... if so you have encryptions that have to be dealt with before you burn to disk. Your Nero log doesn't reflect what you are trying to write to. *I have updated firmware for NEC recorder from 1.06 to 1.0C
*Uninstalled Nero succesfully using the cleantool from your link
*downloaded and used ccleaner and done full registery cleaner
*done defragment & reboot
*downloaded 6.6.0.18 from hippo
*downloaded patch from Nero and rebooted
tried to copy dvd, this time it started buffer underread but failed again ;
now i am at this stage ;

also i use verbatim and datawrite media mostly [dvd + r] will only consider your suggestions in future
all i am trying to do is copy a dvd (which was originally copied transferred from vhs) ....the current error messages and burning procedure suggest that somehow the reader was trying to burn images on my disc which is not what i am trying to do, all i clicked was copy dvd... something which i have done hundreds of times previously, but something somehow went wrong and it wouldnt let me. I did have problems a few months ago when Nero kept displaying image recorder instead of ROM and RW but that corrected itself with me playing about until yesterday. Hope this helps.

soooooo you are making a copy of a copy..... ok.... what you are experiencing is 2 things;
1. the disk that you are trying to copy may be dirty..... use a residue free cleaning (alcohol, windex, or something that will dry fast) and a lint free cloth and apply the cleaner to the DVD.... then in straight lines....from the inner hub to the outer edge... wipe the cleaner off the disk in one motion till the disk is clean and free of smudges or finger prints.
2. the disk that you are trying to copy is not of good quality and your drive can't read the disk! It has to read the disk before it can copy the disk! soooo if you are getting a 17:17:43 #16 TRANSFER -25 File Reader.cpp, Line 382 Error reading data
you need to try to rip the disk first then copy! here is something to read about hard disks to rip:

Great stuff IHoe! Sounds like the disc itself is defective, it could still play correctly but copying could be a problem. Of course it could be dirty-hopefully and easily fixed.

things are working again,
yes i am copying a 'copy' ..... :) i should have said
and i have closely examined the disc and can see many scratches albeit slight.
I am usually careful when i handle discs but will take extra care from now on.

Hi, just to give you an update, would appreciate any further advice ...
Everything has been okay but intermittent. Was burning yesterday copying on the fly until still more burn errors/problems.
I am still on Nero 6.6.0.18 btw.
but i have had the following errors [see below], even with verbatim cds
have checked DMA is on everywhere, done defrag, uninstalled,ccleaner,etc re-booted etc
Also i dont have an alternative to copy on the fly as i dont have an option to make my own dvd ?, i can burn dvd files yes, but not make my own dvd, do i not have any dvd plug-ins someone has said, where do i find them or upgrade ?
Also my last two burn errors occurred right at the end of the burn. They more or less reached 99% in processing and failed ?
This means i can play them on my dvd player but cant finalise them ? Can anything be done to play them on all players or do i sling the discs ?
I am getting desperate, do i need to get a new drive ?

If you're using Nero Express as indicated by your log, you should be able to stop copying on the fly!! Open Nero Express >select copy entire DVD> In the next window where the source and destination are selected, just under those, UNCHECK quick copy. This will make Xpress copy to HD before the burn. Something's wrong with your set up if you can't do that.

Yes, your driver might be old, but the problem could also be the copywright on the dvd your trying to copy. Download DVD43. This will decrypt the copywright and let Nero read the disk.
