Ok so I just wanted to let those out there intending on buying the XCM-iII Blue Crystal w/ LEDS Case about what?s involved in the installation process before you get yourself into something you weren?t quite expecting
there is allot of work involved disassembling the entire casing and everything in it just to replace the outer housing unless you have a good hour or two on your hands and good organization skills as well know a bit about Disassembling electronic devices I wouldn't attempt it but otherwise:
Materials
1X tri-wing Screwdriver (included with package)
1X Tiny Phillips jeweler Screw driver (included in the package)
1X Medium sized Phillips jeweler sixed Screw Driver
Copper Tape
Patience
Ok so when you get the box all pieces shown in the photo below include:
- Custom DVD Shield w/LEDS
- Crystal Blue Casing
- Crystal Blue GC Controller & Memory Card Covers
- Rubber Feet & Cover stickers
- Front Panel + Buttons
- Clear Heat sink Housing with LEDS
- Crystal Blue Stand
- Jewelers Phillips Screwdriver
- Tri Wing Screwdriver
Alright the 1st step should be to start disassembling the wii - turn the case so you?re looking at the bottom there are 5 screws as marked in the picture 2Xtri-wing 3Xphillips
Now Flip the Wii to its right side, remove the 2 rubber feet from the back and the 2 cover stickers from
the front, 2Xtri-wing 2Xphillips.
Now with the system standing upright remove the controller and memory card port covers, you will see 3 screws, take special note on the closest one to the front where the Disc ejects, it is longer than the others be sure to place it back there when done.
Now remove the front face being sure to be careful when disconnecting the power cable from the front of the DVD player and slip the Black covering off. You will now see 4 screws 2Xphillips 2XTri-Wing remove those and we are set, Turn the casing on its side and lift directly up on the casing to open it up.
So now we are looking at the DVD shield that can simply be pulled off to make your life easier or just go ahead and remove the 2X Phillips screws indicated in the picture
So with the DVD shield removed and the first 2 screws removed, just go ahead with the Phillips screwdriver and remove the last two (Be careful not to let them drop into the casing and get lost)
Now lifting up the DVD unit "Very Carefully" you will notice two separate connections below these, firstly disconnect the white one with the black cord, be sure to pull "Straight Out" then lay the DVD on its back and cautiously remove the remaining connector.
Ok so to get this connector off lift up on the brown piece gently and slide the ribbon out "Gently"!!!
Alright Kiddies Christmas came early this Year~~ so just go ahead and remove all the screws indicated In the picture, I'm not going to count; I think I missed the 2 on the back that hold the fan - also take Note of the copper tape on the board that has to be removed in effort to get to the board and believe Me you?re not going to be able to reuse it let alone get it off in one piece (This tape acts as a heat Conductor and gives the power supply that extra Zang!
Now down to the board, this part is very simple just remove the 4 Phillips screws holding down the Heat sink then the two holding the board down directly beneath it indicated in the picture. From hear simple remove the board and place it on the new case and start reassembling from where we left off.
Now with it back together remember that copper tape I was telling you about go ahead place an inch Wide piece over the heat sink (Note: copper tape is a bitch to find most home improvement centers like Home Depot, Lowes ect do not carry this, neither does electronic stores like Radio Shack, Fry's or Norvak, the best place to always obtain this is from a local stained glass shop) ~! After that install Your new custom clear heat sink housing
Finish up getting the rest in and simply place the Custom DVD shield with the led?s in it as the old One was remember to connect the Heat sink Housing Wire into the Board where the Fan was plugged in at And plug the fan into the socket on the clear housing and the extending wire from the Heat sink housing Extends to the DVD shield and plugs in there, It's obvious when you see it.
Lastly go ahead and grab that front panel and remove all the innards and simply relocate them to the New clear blue front panel as a warning DO NOT USE THE EJECT BUTTON - it does not work god knows what?s Wrong with the damn thing but it doesn?t work just use the original white one from the wii, it actually Does not look bad at all after all you still have the while edging around the DVD opening they never gave You the replacement for that, but anyways don?t install the blue one evidently it's shorter either way It was a huge headache figuring out it wasn?t the right size.
Now you?re finished! Easy Enough your grandma could do it huh?
I ordered it from Divieno, really the only thing I have ever ordered from them but hey they got it on time and were the only ones at the time I saw caring it though I wish I would have waited I could have got the Chameleon instead:
I know for sure my eject button jams if I just screw everything back in. I ended up having to put a few razor thin pieces of electrical tape between the faceplate and the case to space it out, which worked. I'm also using the white original faceplate with the blue case, along with the blue buttons, looks very sick in my opinion. You see the original front, then see the led side, and it's like, oh damn, haha.
