From what I understand is it's an open source mod chip, this makes updating the chip easier by adding an external port.

Wow that looks so similar to my "modded" modchip design.

I had some left over stock from the old PS1/PS2 modding days and rigged this up to work with the Wii....man if only I had some connections in the scene I could have made some real good money.

It would be a perfect solution if they had the same setup but with a wire install as an option!
