Hey guys, installing the wiikey I had to desolder it after having some problems where the wii wouldnt turn on after i tried to play the wario game and it would recognize the disc at first but then just hold on the black screen.

So i desoldered the wiikey and some contact patches came off, I cant seem to get solder to stick back where they were (contacts 3,4,5,6 the small ones) They came off the wii itself, not the wiikey.

Thanks!

Also as for my playing the wario game problem, could it be that I burned it with a dvd drive other than what the site recommends? Because its not a backup its an actual download to test that out and i figured the dvd drive recommended in the 'how to backup wii games' forum was only for when youre using the original game and copying it. thanks

Here are alternate soldering points for the Wiikey...

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=55534

Any DVD Burner should work when burning an ISO. Make sure the media is compatible with your Wii. Use ImgBurn to burn the ISO.

Plus if you have downloaded an out of region game disc make sure it is region free compatible from the list below. Plus make sure the region override is set to ON.

Awesome thanks!

"Recognizes disc, locks up on load"

lol theres the problem right there, i thought it would work because looking at it from a article i read they were using a PAL system and they labeled the game as working as long as you set it to region free

I noticed there was also a 60Hz mode in the compatibility Region patcher list, anyway to change US Wii's to this mode?

Those solder points are impossible unless you have a magnifying glass and some really thin tools lol. It doesnt look like its working out, the Wii itself WORKS but the wiichip doesnt seem to be reading since the contact points 3,4,5,6 cant be hooked up easily, should i just give up or anyone have any ideas on saving this?

At this point im just bummed out, i wish i didnt desolder it and play with it so many times troubleshooting another problem, shouldve looked it up first

Send it in for a Pro to install it.

Below is a USA based site that you can send the Wii to.

I don't know how much extra they will charge since you botched the regular install points yourself. But the normal charge is $35 so e-mail them and ask them what it would cost to install the Wiikey on the alternate points.

If you don't live in the USA then either search or let me know where you do live and I can see if I can find an alternative site you can send it in to.

It shouldn't be that much more then a regular install if not the same. They are a pretty reputable site. So you should get a fair price.

Thanks ive really appreciated all your help thus far, I get too impatient once i get excited about something so instead of looking something up on the internet i wanna fix it myself right then and there.

Ill see what they say, I wonder because the soldering iron seems to have left black spots on the wiikey also so i wonder if they can solder to it anymore
