best program to take short clips from dvd?

I have a job editing for a small company which films high school sports and makes highlight tapes and such. I'm use to recieving the media I edit on MiniDV and just streaming clips and editing. This week they gave me 11 dvds which have about 5 to 10 10 second clips each which need to be ripped and made into a editable format(like AVI).

What is the best method or program of getting this done? I'm trying to do it while saving as much time as possible on this process.
