Hi! I cut an mpg file into 2 using TMPEGEnc so I could watch it on my standalone dvd player. I have bought a DVD r/writer and when I tried to merge to 2 files back together (so I could author & put on a dvd) it seemed to do it ok, when I played the new file back it had lost some of the audio. The original mpegs play just fine all the audio is there. I have searched a few forums and can't seem to find the answer. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank You!

In my experience, any time you do splicing and dicing on a video file, you will end up with either a video and/or audio glitch that lasts a second or two, a completely missing secion of the video, or it boogers up the entire video. I've tried 2 or 3 joiners and out of those, "AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner" worked the best. It kept the glitches to a minimum. You can download a 10 day full function trial at either download.com or at boilsoft.com. If you use Arcsoft's dvd authoring software, you don't need to rejoin the mpeg sections. Tho it puts the sections onto the dvd seperately...during playback it goes from one to the next without having to do anything. It joins the sections much better than any joiner does, while also providing me with a chapter choosing menu of sorts on the splash screen. (it puts a thumbnail with a vidcap from that mpeg section on the splash screen that u can click and go directly to that section.) Since I discovered that tidbit of info, I no longer even use the joiner. Good luck.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

Thanks for the tips Bodene. Could you be more specific which ArcSoft Dvd Author. There seems to be a few to choose from,or am I being totally thick as usual. lol
The software sounds exactly what I am looking for as I have a lot of movies split into 2.
Thanks again.
