Nero 7.9.6.0 CD-R burning error

Hey everybody, first time poster here! Im not sure if anyones posted the same problem or a similar one but I would like to get this sorted out and I apologize if it has been posted before.
Ive been having problems with Nero for awhile so i un-installed it and have been using Ashampoo (which is okay but nothing compared to Nero, IMO). Well, I have re-installed Nero (Ashampoo takes too freaking long to make an audio CD) and the error i had before the uninstall is still coming up in the reinstall! The error is, the burning process begins, gets to 5% (used to be 6% before uninstall), the time counts down but the percentage completed stays! Ive wasted multiple blanks because of this. Im using TDK CD-R Gold (scsa-tdk80cg100zap, dunno if this makes sense).

Basically, the only thing I can see is that you are trying to burn a CD at such a slow speed....I recommend burning at around 32X for CDs and around 4X for DVDs.

Hey gwendolin, thanks for the reply.
I burned the same files successfully, but this time on a CD-RW and at the 4x (the only speed available). I tried to burn again on the CD-R at 16x and 24x (the highest available) still to no avail.
Does anyone have any clue whats going on?? I saved the log of the 16x one but forgot about the 24x. If anyone needs to see it I can post it up later.

Normally I would NOT recommend discs made by this company, but I have recently learned that my Verbatim CDs are also made by them and I have no problems with them, so I have to eat humble pie on this one.
Maybe a change of discs may help.

Seems you were right about that one! I just bought some cd's today and they work! I have had the other ones for ages but never had any problems before. Is the CD-R and burner not being compatible a possibility?
