I only have a DVD+R burner, so what are the best discs to use?
When downloading the firmware, when i double click the update file in WinRAR the file dummy.bin displays. is this the firmware file that i need to burn to disc?
If so, when trying to burn this file imgburn will not recognise this file. I only have Nero 5.5 will this do it and how?
Sorry but im pulling my hair out, and there is already not much there!

You should be downloading an ISO
ImgBurn should recognize an ISO right off the bat. Try re-downloading the firmware and make sure it has the ISO in the file.
I used Memorex DVD+R, HP DVD+R, and HP Lightscribe DVD+R. All worked on my friend's Wiid installed Wii. You just have to burn at a slow rate, like 2x or 4x.
i have file wiidupdate_02_palnew(firmware).iso as the source in imgburn, and im burning at 2x.
when i try to update i get a black screen with white text telling me that a problem occured and to restart my wii and consult the manual.
when the disc is spinning there is a slight clicking.
then when i put my backup of red steel in which has been burned the same i get the same black screen.
