Hi all,

I am currently using uTorrent as my client software and keep getting a red light, which is making my download speeds very slow. I have forwarded the necessary port in both my router and modem as directed by the guides on www.portforward.com. What should be my next course of action?

OS: Windows XP
Router: D-link DI-624
Modem: Netopia 3341
Firewalls: All disabled

Disable UPnP and set a port over 10,000 that isn't the default at options>preferences>connection and at options>preferences>bittorrent, enable Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 and you can enable both DHT options but only on public sites. You can set Global maximum connections and maximum connected peers to 250-350. Make sure your connection type in speed guide is set correctly for your upload. Also, check this list to see if your ISP is on it: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs and make sure that utorrent is set as an exception in your firewall. Check your ip address at ipconfig/all and ensure it's set correctly, if it has changed, it will need to be set static.
