I'm having problems with my NEC 3540A DVD burners. It can read DVDs, but it can't read or burn any CDs. I've tried using a cleaning disc and updating the firmware to version 1.04, but the problem remains. Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling your secondary IDE controller and then rebooting. Let windows reinstall it.
