GC games wont play.on modded wii

ok i got a gamecube controller and pluged it in got an original gc game put it in and it loads, the controller works ..all is great until it starts to load the game. then i get a message saying to unplug the wii and check the manual ..tired it a few times ..same thing everytime. I tried a burnt backup game and with it i get sound but no image just a blank screen. I have a wiikey what do i have to do to make it work?

What game(s) have you tried. I've only had this happen on 1 game so far, Super Monkey Ball. I've tried about 8 others and all worked fine.

wii games ive tried have all worked, but its the gamecube ones that dont. I tired super smash bros not sure if its PAL or NTSC and a original copy of star wars clone wars that one is NTSC for sure as i bought it here.
