Excuse my ignorance but what does it mean when the wii gets brinked?

I tried to google it but comes up with random stuff.

If you DO mean bricked, It means that the system becomes unusable partially or fully.

Partial Bricking: When a system is mostly usable but certian aspects are broken. This happened to players that imported and played Mario Strikers Charged on an NTSC-U console before updating the firmware. This made it so players could no longer update their settings.

Complete Bricking: This is when your system gets killed by trying to load a software application that causes all functionality of the console to be lost. This happened most notably when the NTSC-U version of Super Paper Mario was imported and attempted to be played on an out of date PAL wii. This caused the system to do the WRONG firmware update and crash on power up.

"Bricking" is basically when your beloved Wii becomes a $250+ doorstop or "brick".

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I do have 1 last question, when you say that players can no longer update their settings, do you mean the mod chip (wiikey) settings?

I mean the Wii Console settings such as internet, display, sensorbar blacement, etc.

The rumored fix for this is to get a disc that will update the console with the proper region firmware. This will be tested when newer titles are released with new firmware on it.

Complely bricked wiis have no know fix as of yet.
