I removed the dvd screws then i followed a video, so i thought i was meant to take out the brown connecter as wel as the wire

are you talking about the ribbon or the actual connection? if its just the ribbon, you lift the brown clamp up and then slide it in there as far as you can then push the brown clamp back down.
if its the clamp itself that's broken you might be in some trouble. it might just pop back in.
i stuck down the brown bit with some electrical tape, but will that stay secure forever?, its some pretty good strong tape and it can reconenct thankfully, i was so angry lool

well, it just might. the point is to have that ribbon stay in place and in contact with all those trace connections (they work the same way as pins in the IDE/ATA drives. They need to maintain constant contact.
Anyone knows where to get new Ribbons? Online/Retail or from another piece of hardware? I have been hearing lots of cases where the ribbon breaks/rips as did mine. Any fix guide would be good too. Thanks.
do a search on this subject. i know there was a thread that someone posted a place to get alternate parts that will work. it's not the same parts, but it works when you're in a pinch.
