The only thing they banned were people with modded Xboxes that were connecting to XboxLive.
Until Nintendo starts making games where you connect over the internet (which they've never been big with except on the DS) then I don't see a problem.
I also heard a theory that whenever an Xbox either started up or connected to Xboxlive (I forget which exactly) it checked for a burned game & would then ban your Xbox from Live.
Like I said, until we see WiiLive or over the net gaming I think it's just fine.
This question has been asked and answered many times. Next time search around a bit. Either way, the answer is, as of yet, no. The diff in xbox live and the wii, is that in xbox live it wasn't picking up a chip. The deal with Xbox360 is that it uses modded firmware, and the service was picking up the modded firmware, and then blocking the Xboxs when it detects modded firmware.

I personally recommend the Wiikey. It seems to have the most support, I've read about many people owning them & have heard little about bad things happening. That's all in my own personal opinion.
The LG recorders are only meant for RIPPING games from friends or rentals.
The second I found out I could DL any torrent, burn the game, and pop it in I began to order my tools. In a nutshell:
Ripping = 1 of 4 LG Drives
Burning = ANY DVD drive
